Description
What type of wine it is
Joseph Voillot's Volnay Vieilles Vignes is a still red wine with a Controlled Designation of Origin that embodies the authentic essence of Burgundy. Produced exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes, it offers a fruity and elegant sensory profile, enriched by a surprising complexity. The depth of this wine comes from the use of vines over forty years old, which give structure and harmony to the palate. At the table, it pairs excellently with poultry dishes, red meats, and soft cheeses.
Where it comes from
This Volnay originates in the heart of the Côte-d’Or, a premier region for viticultural excellence. The wine is the result of a careful blend of parcels from the Poisots, Gigottes, Serpents, Pasquiers, and Lurets sectors, located at the bottom of the hillside slope. Here, the roots run deep into deep, silty soils, characterised by abundant gravel and Bathonian limestone debris. This geological makeup, tended by six generations of family management, gives the wine a clear and profound territorial character.
History and interesting facts
The Volnay Vieilles Vignes from Domaine Joseph Voillot bears witness to the dedication of a family now in its sixth generation. The grapes come from historic plots with vines planted between 1930 and 1973, capable of expressing the authentic elegance of Burgundy in the glass. Deep respect for the land translates into careful reasoned viticulture, which has boasted HVE certification for its high environmental value since 2017. This care for the ecosystem preserves a precious viticultural heritage, giving life to a wine that embodies the true soul of the terroir.
