Description
What kind of wine is it
Domaine Dujac Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts is a red wine that represents a pure expression of Pinot Noir. It appears a ruby red colour, introducing an aromatic profile marked by clear scents of red fruits. On the palate, it offers a sip of absolute balance and remarkable persistence. To best enhance its structure and aromatic nuances, it is recommended to decant for an hour before serving, ideally at a temperature between 18 and 20°C. At the table, it pairs excellently with game and mature cheeses, as well as enhancing dishes based on red meat and pork.
Where does it come from
This renowned wine is born in the heart of Burgundy, specifically in the Vosne-Romanée area. The Domaine Dujac estate cultivates its vineyards on soil with an extremely varied and complex geological composition. The soil matrix changes from east to west: the eastern portion is characterised by smoothed limestone fragments with small oyster shells, while the central band is very stony, rich in angular Prémeaux limestone. In the upper part, there is a frequent presence of angular limestone gravel. This mineral richness gives the wine a distinct and deep flavour profile.
How is it produced
The production philosophy is based on a meticulous approach in the cellar, which involves whole cluster vinification. This precise oenological technique allows for the extraction and definition of a distinctive aromatic profile, preserving the freshness and identity of the grape variety. Although the colour may initially appear pale, the wine has an extraordinary propensity for ageing, guaranteeing a longevity of over 25 years. Over time and with maturation, its structure transforms and evolves in a fascinating way, developing complex tertiary aromas that further enrich the tasting experience.
History and Curiosities
Founded in Burgundy in 1967, the prestigious Domaine Dujac estate is dedicated to the practice of whole cluster vinification. This technique enhances the authenticity of Pinot Noir, resulting in wines capable of revealing fascinating tertiary aromas over the decades. The excellent 2018 vintage of Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts guarantees a longevity of over 25 years, further strengthened by the prestigious 96 points awarded by Decanter. A still red wine of absolute balance and great persistence, perfect for a long and magnificent ageing.

The property counts on 12.75 hectares of which 1.25 planted with chardonnay, for an average production of less than 60,000 bottles. Jacques and his son Jeremy (whose wife Diana, winemaker, works in the domaine) are faithful to a Pinot Noir very marked obtained through the vinification of whole grapes, the wine has rarely got a great color, but after a long period (even beyond thirty) tertiary aromas do justice to this wine.
Five imported wines: a Morey Blanc Village and a 1er Cru, a Morey Village rouge, a Gevrey 1er Cru and a Clos de la Roche Grand Cru, flagship of Seysses family. Read more
