Description

What kind of wine it is

Touraine Oisly Fabel Barbou from Domaine des Corbillières is a white wine from the Loire Valley, made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes. This interpretation of Touraine Oisly stands out for its golden yellow colour with green highlights. On the nose, there are notes of ripe gooseberry, peach and delicate exotic nuances. The palate is juicy, driven by a dynamic and lively acidity that brings balance. The tasting reveals a complex flavour profile, finishing with an elegant, persistent finish. It pairs beautifully with shellfish, seafood dishes and cheeses.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from the Oisly area, within the Loire Valley. The vineyards are situated on sandy soils over clay, enriched with pebbles and quartz that give the wine an extremely fine texture. The estate boasts old vines up to sixty years old, essential for conveying the essence of the terroir. The low yields, with a strictly limited maximum production, ensure the grapes have remarkable aromatic concentration.

How it is produced

The agricultural management avoids chemical fertilisers in favour of organic matter only. In the vineyard, there is a rigorous shoot thinning and meticulous leaf removal. Fermentation lasts between four and six weeks, thanks to the action of indigenous yeasts that preserve the typical character of Sauvignon Blanc. The process concludes with a prolonged ageing on the lees until the spring months, a practice that develops the wine’s structure and volume, making its texture richer and deeper.

History and Curiosities

Purchased in 1923 by Fabel Barbou, the Domaine des Corbillières has been managed by four generations in the Loire Valley across 28 organic hectares. The old vines, aged 40-60 years, sink their roots into an exceptional terroir characterised by fine sand, clay, and quartz. This precious viticultural heritage has led to the attainment of the prestigious AOC Touraine Oisly, producing Sauvignon Blanc grapes capable of expressing truly rare richness and complexity.
