Description
What kind of wine it is
Accanto by D’Addario is a still red wine that faithfully enhances the Susumaniello grape. It appears in the glass with a deep ruby red colour, hinting at an intense aromatic profile. On the nose, it offers clear notes of red fruits, with plum taking centre stage, intertwined with delicate herbal and spicy nuances. The palate reveals excellent complexity and marked freshness, supported by an integrated tannic structure that leads to a satisfying finish.
Where it comes from
This wine originates from Turi, in the heart of the Murgia. This inland area is characterised by a distinctive karst-limestone soil and hills reaching three hundred metres in altitude. The geographical conditions, combined with significant temperature variations between day and night, favour a fresh and well-defined flavour profile. The strong vocation of the soil is reflected in the intensity of the colour, naturally enhancing the characteristics of Apulia.
How it is produced
Vinification involves malolactic fermentation carried out in medium-toasted French oak barrels for about three or four months. The wine then continues to mature in the same containers for a further three or four months, completing its maturation harmoniously. This careful management of timing softens the tannins, preserving the vibrancy of the fruit and enriching the structural complexity, resulting in a long-lasting flavour.
History and Curiosities
The result of the dedication of the D’Addario Agricultural Enterprises, Accanto, pure Susumaniello, releases all the authentic strength of Apulia in the glass. Produced in Turi, in the evocative heart of the Murgia, this elegant IGT red stands out for its deep and satisfying character. Malolactic fermentation and skilful maturation in medium-toasted French oak barriques enrich its profile, giving it an ageing potential of between 5 and 10 years. If left to decant for about an hour, it reveals all its fascinating structural complexity.
