Description
What kind of wine it is
Angimbè by Cusumano is a harmonious still white wine produced in the Terre Siciliane area, made from a careful blend of grapes combining Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. To the eye, it displays a bright straw yellow colour, introducing an aromatic profile centred on clear notes of citrus, grapefruit peel and ripe white fruit. On the palate, it reveals a well-defined texture, enriched by delicate hints of honey, almonds and orange leaves. The lively acidity accompanies the entire tasting experience, ensuring a fresh smoothness and constant elegance.
Where it comes from
Angimbè originates from the Ficuzza Estate, located in the area of Piana degli Albanesi, in the province of Palermo. The vines grow within a mountain terroir at around seven hundred metres above sea level, an altitude that is crucial in defining the fresh character that distinguishes the sip. Set within the context of Terre Siciliane, the vineyards benefit from east and south-east exposures to maximise the aromatic precision of the grapes. This unique high-altitude environment enhances the international varieties, allowing them to develop harmoniously and in balance within Sicily's climate.
How it is produced
The vineyards are trained using the espalier system with yields aimed at preserving the balance of the bunches, which are harvested through a rigorous manual harvest. In the winery, the process begins with a cold maceration of the skins lasting twelve hours, a technique designed to extract and fix the full aromatic profile. Maturation continues in steel tanks with a rest on fine lees for four months. A final period of ageing completes the production cycle, ensuring a linear and technically pristine expressive profile.
History and Curiosities
Angimbè 2025 is an elegant tribute to the Tenuta Ficuzza of Cusumano, where Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc meet in an exceptional mountain terroir at 700 metres above sea level, in the Piana degli Albanesi. Following a meticulous manual harvest and cold maceration of the skins at 8°C, the identity of this Terre Siciliane IGT takes shape through careful maturation in steel on fine lees for four months. The result is a captivating still white wine that offers the palate refined smoothness and subtle elegance.
