Description

What kind of wine it is

Pariglia is a still white wine that expresses the authentic character of Vermentino, offering a fresh and elegant profile. This Vermentino from Sardinia presents a bright straw yellow colour. The bouquet reveals delicate notes of flowers and yellow-fleshed fruit, enriched by fresh hints of carambola and apple. On the palate, it is dry, lively and enveloping, supported by a pleasant creaminess. Subtle iodised touches accompany the sip towards a clean finish, distinguished by a typical almond note.

Where it comes from

The wine originates in Sardinia in the Oristano area, within the fascinating Terre di Ossidiana on Monte Arci. In this specific area, the volcanic soils derive from the disintegration of obsidian, giving the wine unmistakable savoury and mineral sensations. Contini cultivates the vines benefiting from a Mediterranean climate with hot, breezy summers, at an altitude reaching one hundred metres above sea level. The espalier training system encourages regular ripening of the grapes, while the wine's name celebrates the ancient equestrian tournament of the Sartiglia.

How it is produced

The production process begins with the harvest and subsequent crushing. Fermentation involves careful skin maceration lasting up to seven days, a technique essential for enhancing aromatic intensity and defining the wine's texture. Gentle pressing delicately separates the must before it rests for several months in steel tanks to preserve the energy and clarity of the primary aromas. A final maturation in the bottle stabilises the structural balance, ensuring a dynamic and harmonious sip.

History and Curiosities

The name Pariglia is a tribute to the spectacular horseback displays of the Sartiglia, the famous Sardinian equestrian tournament depicted on the artistic label. This vibrant Vermentino di Sardegna DOC originates from the evocative Obsidian Lands of Monte Arci, where the volcanic soils impart delicate iodised nuances to the wine. Produced by the historic Contini winery, founded in Cabras in 1898, this radiant island expression combines tradition and nature in a fresh and decisive sip, which gently fades into a pleasantly almondy finish.

A name and a number define our company and mark the origins of our story. We are proud to be the first and oldest winery in Sardinia, an honour that we owe entirely to our founder, Salvatore Contini, and his wife Anna Maria Dessì.

Today the company produces a complete range of wines available in Italy and internationally. In 2022 the new Contini winery was officially opened, after a restyling of the spaces with the aim of bringing us into the future and becoming a
home to experiences, a meeting point, and a destination to be discovered.
