Description

What kind of wine it is

Mas’Est Marzemino by Conti Bossi Fedrigotti is a still red wine with a Trentino designation of origin that expresses the essence of the Marzemino Gentile grape variety. Produced through partial drying and ageing in barrels, it stands out for its bouquet of plum and wild berries. On the palate, it reveals a lively structure with fresh acidity, delicate tannins and a dry finish with elegant hints of bitter cocoa.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from the hills of Isera, Mori and Rovereto, in the heart of Trentino-Alto Adige. Situated at an altitude between one hundred and two hundred and fifty metres, the vines benefit from an ideal climate to develop a clear aromatic profile and a pleasant freshness. The connection between the land and this variety has deep historical roots, so much so that this wine is even celebrated in Mozart’s Don Giovanni. Its territorial identity makes it ideal for accompanying mountain cuisine, enhancing dishes such as canederli, pork ragù and braised game.

How it is produced

The vinification process involves dividing the grapes into two separate paths. Some of the bunches are processed immediately after harvesting, while the rest undergo partial drying for forty days to give greater concentration and body. The batches ferment separately in stainless steel tanks, thus preserving the aromatic purity of the fruit. After the creation of the blend, the wine matures for six months in wooden barrels. This ageing shapes its structure, ensuring a perfect balance between fruity notes, spices and natural freshness.

History and Curiosities

The Mas’Est Marzemino 2024 from Conti Bossi Fedrigotti embodies the legacy of a family devoted to viticulture for centuries. Famous for being mentioned by Mozart in his “Don Giovanni”, where it is praised as “excellent”, this red wine skilfully combines music and Dolomite tradition.

The Bossi Fedrigotti family lives in Trentino for almost 600 years and more than 300 dealing with wine. The property began to grow in the last decades of the '600 with the purchase of "a piece of land in Fojaneghe". The campaign is soon filled with vineyards and through the archive of the cellar, can be traced back to the first vintage (1697), one of the oldest of its kind in Italy. In '700 the agricultural heritage widened until it reaches the maximum extension of 250 hectares and wine-making activity was growing.

Federico Bossi was Fedrigotti, father of the current owners, to sense the need for a profound transformation. Thanks to him was abolished wholesale (in barrels and carboys) and ran bottling. It was he who created the first "Bordeaux blend" in Italy, obtained, that is, with the simultaneous vinification of Merlot and Cabernet grapes, the foundations of the great wines of Bordeaux. It was 1961. At the new wine, accompanied by a constant success, it was given the name of "Fojaneghe red", from the estate where he grew - and coltivano- the best grapes of two varieties.

The Company Counts Bossi Fedrigotti is now flanked by the experience of Masi Agricola. The recent partnership agreement provides support by Masi in terms of cutting-edge technology and international marketing network.
