Description
What kind of wine it is
Fojaneghe Conti Bossi Fedrigotti is a red wine from Trentino-Alto Adige, with the geographical indication Vigneti delle Dolomiti, aged in barrels and created as a historic Bordeaux-style blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Teroldego. It displays an intense ruby colour with garnet highlights. On the nose, it reveals notes of dark cherry and blackcurrant, enriched by vanilla and delicate hints of leather. On the palate, it offers a silky texture and soft tannins, with echoes of candied fruit, cloves and pepper. The excellent acidity supports a velvety finish with pronounced minerality.
Where it comes from
The roots of this wine lie in the Trentino region, on the terraces that border the River Adige near Rovereto. The vineyards benefit from the foothill climate typical of areas close to the Dolomites. Fojaneghe holds deep historical value, being the first Italian example of this specific blend. The contribution of Teroldego has strengthened its local identity, offering a genuine expression of the region's wine landscape and ensuring an extraordinary capacity for ageing over time.
How it is produced
Vinification carefully follows the parameters of the Vigneti delle Dolomiti. The wine matures through barrel ageing for 18 months, acquiring subtle toasted and fine wood notes that do not overpower the fruit's fragrance. This technical care ensures a harmonious profile and remarkable longevity.
History and Curiosities
Fojaneghe is the flagship label of the historic Conti Bossi Fedrigotti winery. Born from the intuition of Count Federico, in 1961 it became Italy’s first Bordeaux-style blend, combining Merlot and Cabernet grapes grown on the terraces of the Adige. Today, enriched by a carefully balanced addition of Teroldego, this prestigious red reaffirms its proud Trentino identity. With over seventy awards to its name, the wine has captivated enthusiasts for more than fifty years.

Federico Bossi was Fedrigotti, father of the current owners, to sense the need for a profound transformation. Thanks to him was abolished wholesale (in barrels and carboys) and ran bottling. It was he who created the first "Bordeaux blend" in Italy, obtained, that is, with the simultaneous vinification of Merlot and Cabernet grapes, the foundations of the great wines of Bordeaux. It was 1961. At the new wine, accompanied by a constant success, it was given the name of "Fojaneghe red", from the estate where he grew - and coltivano- the best grapes of two varieties.
The Company Counts Bossi Fedrigotti is now flanked by the experience of Masi Agricola. The recent partnership agreement provides support by Masi in terms of cutting-edge technology and international marketing network. Read more
