Description
What kind of wine it is
Conte Vistarino Cepage Metodo Classico Brut is an elegant sparkling wine from Oltrepò Pavese. Produced using the Traditional Method, this wine combines Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in a fresh and refined blend. It displays a bright straw yellow colour and a fine, persistent perlage. On the nose, it offers delicate floral and balsamic nuances, accompanied by notes of apple, grapefruit, and enveloping hints of brioche. On the palate, it reveals a lively citrus freshness and a pronounced minerality, finishing with a harmonious sip and an extremely clean aftertaste.
Where it comes from
This wine originates from the historic Rocca de’ Giorgi estate, in the heart of Oltrepò Pavese. The area is renowned for its ideal soil and climate conditions for Pinot Noir, which ensure sparkling wine bases of absolute aromatic precision. Conte Vistarino has cultivated these lands since 1674, enhancing a terroir that gives the cuvée its vibrant mineral texture. The quality of the grapes is the essential element for achieving impeccable taste balance and remarkable ageing potential.
How it is produced
Production strictly follows the principles of the Traditional Method. The secondary fermentation in the bottle is followed by meticulous ageing on the lees for at least thirty months, completed by a further six months of rest after disgorgement. This technical approach shapes a harmonious structure and perfectly integrates the aromatic profile. Ideal as an aperitif, it stands out for its great versatility: its natural savouriness enhances shellfish and grilled fish, while also elegantly complementing cheeses and delicate starters.
History and Curiosities
Originating from the historic Rocca de’ Giorgi estate, south of Pavia, this elegant sparkling wine celebrates the legacy of Conte Vistarino, an estate active since 1674. Under the dynamic leadership of Ottavia, the winery enhances the vocation of Oltrepò Pavese for Pinot Nero, cultivated in the shadow of a centuries-old castle. The prestige of this Metodo Classico lies in its meticulous ageing: the wine rests for at least 30 months on the lees, completing its evolution after disgorgement. This artisanal mastery bestows the cuvée with extraordinary refinement and a longevity of 5-10 years.

Carlo Giorgi di Vistarino introduced the pinot nero grape to the Oltrepo Pavese between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, going on to win awards in both London and Paris for the sparkling wines thus produced. His work was taken further by Ottaviano and Carlo, and is today in the hands of Ottavia Giorgi di Vistarino.
