Description
What kind of wine it is
Contadi Castaldi Franciacorta Dosaggio Zero is a robust Traditional Method sparkling wine, created from a meticulous blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The absence of sugar dosage enhances a dry, linear style, supported by a fine, dense and persistent perlage. On the nose, it reveals a clear bouquet where peach, pineapple and candied citron intertwine with hints of ginger, gunpowder and bread crust. On the palate, it is taut and vibrant, with a defined structure resting on a marked mineral savouriness. The tasting continues seamlessly towards a citrusy finish, perfect for balancing the richness of raw seafood, shellfish and mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
This wine is born in the heart of Franciacorta, in the area of Adro. The identity of the region emerges thanks to the influence of moraine soils, essential elements that provide a precise mineral tension and pronounced clarity of flavour. The vineyards are trained using Guyot and Casarsa methods, with the clear aim of preserving the natural freshness of the grapes. The summer harvest ensures regular ripening, laying the foundations for a zero dosage that faithfully reflects the nuances of the Brescia wine landscape.
How it is produced
The process begins with a gentle pressing of the grapes, followed by cold settling and fermentation in stainless steel, completed by partial malolactic fermentation. The base wines are aged for seven months, resting partly in steel containers and partly in barrels to achieve greater breadth. The prise de mousse in bottle strictly follows the Traditional Method, complemented by a long maturation on the lees of over thirty-six months, which elevates its structural complexity. A further six months of rest after disgorgement delivers a rigorous and deeply persistent sip.
History and Curiosities
Founded in 1987, Contadi Castaldi skilfully combines tradition and innovation. This refined Franciacorta Dosaggio Zero from 2020 expresses the true vocation of the Brescia region, born from a harmonious blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes grown on the renowned moraine soils of Adro. Aged for over 30 months on the lees using the Traditional Method, this sparkling wine contains no added sugars, thus enhancing every natural nuance. Thanks to a further six months of bottle ageing, it offers a vibrant freshness and memorable elegance.

Satèn means silkiness, a sensation that transferred from touch to the palate and can be rendered with creaminess even though this doesn’t convey the freshness of Satèn Contadi Castaldi. How can we describe it? Maybe by taking a step back and staying with the expression "like silk". Anything that is able to evoke the full-bodied lightness, the depth of thought, the princely humour that is as delicate as it is politely fickle, a graceful smile or a gesture that sows questions.
So, we're almost there. If we squeeze into a single image the impression of freshness, softness, immediacy, charging it with the absolute yellow of gold, we cannot but define what is young, who or who feels young. Satèn evokes that malice still lacking in contrasts, a free richness, the ease of wanting with joy. Read more
