Description
What kind of wine it is
Contadi Castaldi Franciacorta Brut Satèn embodies the elegance of the Brescia region through the exclusive use of Chardonnay grapes. Crafted according to the Traditional Method, it stands out for its fine and persistent perlage that introduces a velvety and creamy texture. The aromatic profile reveals clear notes of hawthorn, renetta apple and bread crust, enriched by balsamic nuances and light toasted hints. On the palate, it expresses softness, in a perfect balance between freshness and roundness, with a mineral finish ideal for pairing with raw seafood and shellfish.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the vineyards of Adro, an authentic expression of the richness of Franciacorta. The blend harmonises grapes from different plots: the Sottomonte hill brings freshness, while the slopes of Erbusco lend grace. The well-exposed limestone slopes and eastern terraces contribute to the structure with spicy notes and ripe fruit. In this mosaic of soils, Chardonnay reveals its highest potential, ensuring a harmonious character and a sensory profile of impeccable precision.
How it is produced
Production begins with a gentle pressing and static cold settling. Fermentation in steel and partial malolactic fermentation give the wine softness, which matures for seven months between steel tanks and barrels. The bottle refermentation, typical of the Traditional Method, involves ageing on the lees for thirty to thirty-six months, essential for achieving the characteristic silkiness of the Satèn style. After disgorgement, the Brut dosage refines the structural balance, ensuring a fresh and persistent drink.
History and Curiosities
Founded in Adro by Vittorio Moretti, Contadi Castaldi expresses its identity through a distinctly contemporary visual language. For the winery, innovation is a convivial and dynamic vision, perfectly embodied by the iconic black labels with fluorescent writing. In this prestigious Franciacorta Brut Satèn, the characteristic orange accent is transformed into a refined foil: a precious detail chosen specifically to enhance the value of the vintage, sealing the profound historical connection between the company and the region.

Satèn means silkiness, a sensation that transferred from touch to the palate and can be rendered with creaminess even though this doesn’t convey the freshness of Satèn Contadi Castaldi. How can we describe it? Maybe by taking a step back and staying with the expression "like silk". Anything that is able to evoke the full-bodied lightness, the depth of thought, the princely humour that is as delicate as it is politely fickle, a graceful smile or a gesture that sows questions.
So, we're almost there. If we squeeze into a single image the impression of freshness, softness, immediacy, charging it with the absolute yellow of gold, we cannot but define what is young, who or who feels young. Satèn evokes that malice still lacking in contrasts, a free richness, the ease of wanting with joy. Read more
