Description
What kind of wine it is
Chardonnay Curtefranca by Contadi Castaldi is a still white wine with a bright yellow hue. The bouquet reveals aromas of exotic fruit and white flowers, enriched by delicate hints of almond and vanilla. On the palate, the Chardonnay expresses a lively mineral freshness and a clear savoury texture, finishing with an elegant finale reminiscent of cinnamon.
Where it comes from
The grapes are grown in Lombardy, in the province of Brescia, within the Curtefranca area. The vineyards stretch across the municipalities of Adro, Capriolo, Cazzago San Martino and Erbusco. The microclimate of these places of origin gives the wine a pronounced mineral character, shaping a dynamic flavour profile that faithfully reflects the terroir.
How it is produced
Production begins in August with a careful manual selection of the bunches. After gentle pressing and cold settling, the must undergoes a fermentation in steel lasting twenty days. Malolactic fermentation is only partially carried out to preserve the acidic freshness. This is followed by seven months of ageing in steel tanks to maintain the aromatic fragrance intact.
History and Curiosities
Founded in 1987 in the province of Brescia, the renowned winery Contadi Castaldi expresses Lombard excellence through this celebrated Curtefranca DOC. Under the guidance of oenologist Gian Luca Uccelli, the wine is created from a careful manual selection of grapes harvested in August from the most suitable areas between Adro, Capriolo and Erbusco. Designed to offer an extraordinary evolution over time, it stands out in the wine scene, boasting an impressive 92 points from James Suckling, a testament to its charm and undeniable prestige.

Satèn means silkiness, a sensation that transferred from touch to the palate and can be rendered with creaminess even though this doesn’t convey the freshness of Satèn Contadi Castaldi. How can we describe it? Maybe by taking a step back and staying with the expression "like silk". Anything that is able to evoke the full-bodied lightness, the depth of thought, the princely humour that is as delicate as it is politely fickle, a graceful smile or a gesture that sows questions.
So, we're almost there. If we squeeze into a single image the impression of freshness, softness, immediacy, charging it with the absolute yellow of gold, we cannot but define what is young, who or who feels young. Satèn evokes that malice still lacking in contrasts, a free richness, the ease of wanting with joy. Read more
