Description
What kind of wine it is
Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Gaiole Montelodoli from Colombaio di Cencio is a still red wine that expresses the authentic soul of Sangiovese. Produced from vineyards cultivated using organic farming, it stands out for its intense and well-structured sensory profile. To the eye, it displays a deep, brilliant ruby red colour. On the nose, it reveals pronounced notes of red fruits and spices, enhanced by mineral nuances and delicate toasted hints. On the palate, it impresses with its harmonious structure and enveloping sip, characterised by crisp fruit and a long, persistent finish.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in the heart of Tuscany, in the renowned Montelodoli area of Gaiole in Chianti, within the historic Chianti Classico production zone. The vineyards grow at an altitude of 480 metres, benefiting from optimal southern exposure. The soil is rich in stones with a significant clay component, shaping the identity of the terroir. This geological composition is essential for achieving the perfect balance between freshness and tannic texture, giving the glass extraordinary consistency of flavour.
How it is produced
Production begins with an exclusively manual harvest carried out between the end of September and the beginning of October. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and involves partial whole bunch fermentation. Towards the end of alcoholic fermentation, the wine is racked and pressed to complete the transformation process. Maturation continues for about twenty-four months in used tonneaux and large oak casks, followed by a further six months of bottle ageing, which helps to perfectly integrate the wood and preserve the aromatic integrity.
