Description

What kind of wine it is

Chiara Condello Sangiovese Predappio is an organic still red wine from Emilia-Romagna, a proud expression of the Romagna Sangiovese Predappio area. Made exclusively from Sangiovese grapes, it displays an intense ruby red colour and offers enticing fruity and floral notes of small red berries. On the palate, it delivers a broad and enveloping sip, always maintaining a balanced and highly enjoyable profile. Thanks to its harmonious structure, it pairs perfectly with flavourful first courses, roast meats and mature cheeses.

Where it comes from

This red is born in Predappio, where the vineyards of Chiara Condello benefit from an ideal microclimate favoured by the proximity to a wooded area. The vines grow between 150 and 300 metres above sea level on poor calcareous-clay soils, characterised by the presence of Spungone, a valuable sandstone of Pliocene origin. The vineyard management follows the principles of organic and sustainable farming, with spur-pruned cordon training systems. This combination of lean soils and deep roots allows the Sangiovese to express a well-defined structure, offering a freshness true to the territory.

How it is produced

The process begins with a rigorous manual harvest, followed by spontaneous fermentation activated by indigenous yeasts. The must undergoes maceration on the skins for a period ranging from fifteen to twenty-five days, essential for extracting colour and phenolic components. Vinification takes place in both steel and wood, while ageing continues in fine Slavonian oak barrels and steel tanks. This stage perfects the tannic texture and enhances the aromatic precision, resulting in a wine with an elegant potential for evolution.

Chiara Condello - Le Lucciole was born from the awareness of being a keeper of a wine growing history that was written and handed down for hundreds of years in the Predappio hills and by my desire to give a revolutionary interpretation to this unique, generous land. I work following a concept: I would love to produce a wine that express the high potential of my land, releasing it from all the things that are not essential.

A Sangiovese that returns exactly my ideas of winemaking. I have chosen a little piece of land close to a forest, in the heart of the appellation Predappio, in between 150 and 300 meters above sea level. Here the vines are deeply rooted in a poor calcareous-clay soil which is rich in pliocenic sandstones called Spungone. Here 3 million years ago there was a sea, and from here I started working to produce a wine that is the expression of this uniqueness.
