Description

What kind of wine it is

Fleur de Pedesclaux is the refined second wine from Château Pédesclaux, a still red that represents the authentic expression of the renowned Pauillac terroir. This Bordeaux blend combines Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc varieties and, thanks to gravity-flow winemaking and ageing in barrels, offers a medium-bodied, fresh and harmonious sip. In the glass, it reveals a deep ruby red colour and pastry aromas with floral hints, opening up to a creamy taste supported by silky tannins. The persistent finish makes this wine ideal for enhancing red meats in sauce, game and mature cheeses.

Where it comes from

This famous red is born in the heart of the Médoc, within the prestigious Bordeaux region, an area recognised worldwide for the vocation of its great wines. The vine roots delve into soils composed of Garonne gravels resting on a deep limestone subsoil. This particular geological combination ensures excellent natural drainage. The identity of the Pauillac territory emerges clearly in the glass, giving the wine a distinct and concentrated character. These pedoclimatic characteristics contribute decisively to shaping a fine tannic texture and giving the entire structure a remarkable gustatory balance.

How it is produced

The care in making this wine begins with precise gravity-flow winemaking without the use of pressing, a method that preserves the integrity of the fruit and enhances its finesse. Subsequently, the must undergoes cold pre-fermentation maceration, a technique aimed at the controlled extraction of colour and aromatic complexity. After fermentation, a long stay in tanks allows for gradual extraction that defines the wine's vibrant structure. Finally, the process is completed with ageing in barrels for twelve months, using a proportion of new wood that helps to elegantly integrate the aromas and soften the texture of the wine, offering a mature and extremely harmonious and promising profile.
