Description
What kind of wine it is
The Maso Toresella Chardonnay by Cavit is a still white wine, a pure expression of the Trentino denomination. In the glass, it reveals a brilliant golden hue that introduces a structured sip. The flavour profile is dry and velvety, balanced by a fresh mountain acidity and characterised by a persistent finish. Ageing in barrels gives this white wine a smooth texture, outlining a technical, precise and very pleasant style.
Where it comes from
The Chardonnay grapes come from the Valle dei Laghi in Trentino, an area located at the foot of the Dolomites. The vineyards thrive near Lake Toblino at an altitude of 245 metres. Thanks to the influence of nearby Lake Garda, the area benefits from a sub-Mediterranean climate that ensures the vines have a slow and balanced ripening. The unilateral Guyot training system imparts the wine with a distinct freshness and a well-defined aromatic character.
How it is produced
After manual harvesting, cold maceration on the skins enhances the extraction of aromas. Fermentation and eight months of ageing take place entirely in lightly toasted oak barrels, followed by blending and a period of rest in stainless steel. The bouquet expresses fine notes of vanilla, peach and exotic fruit. Served in a large glass, this wine is the ideal pairing for radicchio risotto, baked sea bream, or dishes with marine flavours such as swordfish with capers and cherry tomatoes.
History and Curiosities
Founded in 1950 to enhance the value of local grape varieties, the Cavit cooperative produces the prestigious Maso Toresella Chardonnay Riserva. Introduced to Trentino at the end of the nineteenth century by the San Michele all’Adige Institute, these grapes find their finest expression in the enchanting Valle dei Laghi. Here, at the foot of the Dolomites and in a landscape nestled between Lake Toblino and Lake Garda, the terroir gives rise to a world-renowned wine, capable of winning gold and silver medals in top-level competitions such as WOW! and Decanter.

The image that best represents Cavit, a large co-operative composed of a large number of small wineries, is that of the vine that produces healthy grapes only if the roots and the other parts of the plant all perform their roles properly.
Created in 1950 to meet the needs of the winegrowers in the area to offer the very best quality and market their wines in a modern way, today Cavit represents over 4,500 winegrowers who are members of 11 cellars and 65% of the wine production in Trentino (around 5,700 ha). Cavit harvests, examines and selects its raw materials from the best produce of the cooperative member cellars, which undergoes strict controls at every stage: from refining to bottling.
Cavit today is one of the major companies in the wine business, operating successfully at national and international level. The headquarters in Ravina, where the production and logistics facilities are also located, house the Wine Cellar, Sparkling Wine Cellar and Wine Shop. Cavit also owns Maso Toresella, used for corporate entertaining, on Lake Toblino.
