Description
What type of wine it is
The Giovanni Neri Rosso di Montalcino by Casanova di Neri is a still red wine from Tuscany that expresses the authentic character of Sangiovese, fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in oak barrels. On the nose, it reveals hints of ripe cherry, blackcurrant and raspberry, fused with notes of violet, leather, Mediterranean herbs and balsamic touches. On the palate, it is round, structured and guided by a vibrant acidity that gives momentum to the sip. The mineral footprint accentuates the complexity, while the fine-grained tannins accompany the tasting towards a long, fresh and balanced finish.
Where it comes from
This expression is born in Tuscany, in the territory of Montalcino, and comes to life from the single-vineyard cru Giovanni Neri. The roots of this Rosso di Montalcino are planted in a specific plot, allowing the Sangiovese to faithfully reflect the characteristics of the local soil. Casanova di Neri applies a rigorous selection in the vineyard to ensure great expressive consistency. The Tuscan terroir yields a harmonious glass, enhancing the balance between aromatic intensity and the natural mineral structure of the area.
How it is produced
The process begins with manual harvesting and a meticulous optical selection of the berries. The must undergoes spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, keeping a small part as whole clusters to enrich the aromatic profile. Maceration takes place for about eighteen days in truncated conical oak vats at a controlled temperature, utilising punch-downs and pump-overs for a measured extraction. The wine then matures for fifteen months in large oak barrels, a fundamental phase for defining the tannic elegance and final stylistic precision.
History and Background
