Description

What kind of wine it is

Casalforte Merlot is a red wine with a deep ruby colour, an authentic expression of the Veneto region. Made from Merlot grapes, it offers a full-bodied profile with juicy drinkability. On the palate, the soft and elegant tannins blend into a silky and concentrated texture. The bouquet recalls ripe cherries, wild berries and plums, finishing with hints of cinnamon, vanilla and chocolate. Thanks to its balance, this red pairs perfectly with pasta dishes featuring rich sauces, grilled meats and mature cheeses.

Where it comes from

The grapes are sourced from vineyards located between the provinces of Verona, Vicenza and Padua. The wine’s identity is defined by the complex matrix of soils, characterised by pronounced minerality and composed of volcanic soils, calcareous clays and alluvial sediments. This geological richness imparts precision to the flavour, enhancing the wine’s structure. The pedoclimatic environment of Veneto favours optimal grape growth, ensuring a pronounced aromatic intensity and a territorial character that highlights the ripe fruit.

How it is produced

Harvesting takes place at the end of September, followed by a slight drying of the grapes, carried out both in the vineyard and in rooms with controlled humidity and temperature. This technique accentuates the depth of aromas and aromatic density. Fermentation takes place in tanks that preserve the colour and phenolic structure. Maturation lasts twelve months, spent between stainless steel and large oak barrels, ensuring a rounded and harmonious taste. The entire production chain follows a sustainable philosophy, focused on energy saving and respect for the raw material.

History and Curiosities

Inspired by the tradition of rural Venetian estates, Casalforte is the flagship line of Cantine Riondo. This Merlot originates from volcanic soils and a skilful drying of the grapes, carried out partly on the vine and partly after harvesting to ensure exceptional aromatic concentration. Fermentation takes place using cutting-edge technology to preserve colour and tannins, followed by a 12-month maturation in both steel and oak. A production philosophy that combines high oenological quality with a constant commitment to environmental sustainability.
