Description
What kind of wine it is
The Rosso di Montalcino from Cantina di Montalcino is a wine with a deep, clear ruby red colour, an authentic expression of Sangiovese grapes. On the nose, it is intense and persistent, releasing fruity aromas of cherry, blackberry and blackcurrant, enriched by delicate spicy notes and subtle toasted hints. On the palate, it displays a full-bodied structure and an excellent balance between freshness and tannic texture. The sip is deep and unfolds with intensity, finishing with a long, enveloping balsamic finish. Thanks to its harmonious profile, it is ideal for pairing with mature cheeses, pork stews, game and traditional Tuscan first courses.
Where it comes from
This Rosso di Montalcino originates from the renowned hilly areas of Montalcino, in the heart of the province of Siena, faithfully reflecting the pedoclimatic characteristics of the Tuscan territory. Cantina di Montalcino, founded in 1970 by a group of winegrowers, now cultivates around ninety hectares of vineyards spread over the four sides of the hill. This variety of exposures ensures a multitude of microclimates that enhance the raw material. Under the guidance of oenologist Riccardo Pucci and thanks to the collaboration of the contributing families, the winery guarantees consistent quality, celebrating the authenticity of the Sienese territory in every glass.
How it is produced
The vinification process begins with a maceration on the skins for about ten days, aimed at balancing the extraction of structure with the development of aromas. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature, followed by a maturation phase in Slavonian oak barrels for about seven or eight months, essential for allowing the tannins to integrate elegantly. This meticulous management in the cellar gives the wine remarkable ageing potential, allowing it to refine and maintain its qualities intact for a period ranging from five to ten years.
