Description
What kind of wine it is
This elegant still red wine fully expresses the character of Pinot Noir, a grape variety capable of delivering refined aromatic profiles. Produced in the Alto Adige region, it stands out for its intense ruby red colour. On the nose, it offers an enveloping bouquet, characterised by fruity notes of cherry and raspberry, enriched with spicy hints of cinnamon. On the palate, it reveals a balanced structure and a full body with a smooth sip, supported by silky tannins that lead to a long and pleasantly rounded finish.
Where it comes from
The grapes grow in the hillside vineyards of Caldaro, in the heart of Alto Adige. The rows benefit from an eastern exposure, at an altitude between 450 and 550 metres above sea level. The soil, composed of medium-textured calcareous and clayey earth, gives the wine solidity while preserving its fine texture. The Kaltern winery manages the plots, tending the vines trained with the guyot and pergola systems, maintaining a constant dedication to quality and an approach focused on environmental sustainability.
How it is produced
The production process begins with fermentation on the skins at a controlled temperature of 23°C. This stage involves an eight-day maceration, designed to extract colour and phenolic components in a balanced way. This is followed by malolactic fermentation, essential for softening the acidity and giving roundness to the sip. Maturation continues for several months in large wooden barrels and concrete vats, allowing the wine to fully develop its typical enveloping structure.
