Description
What kind of wine it is
The Caldaro Cabernet Sauvignon Riserva Campaner by Kaltern is a characterful red, an expression of Alto Adige. Made from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, it displays a deep ruby colour and aromas of blackberries, blackcurrants and cherries, with hints of chocolate and pink pepper. On the palate, it boasts well-defined tannins that balance the ripe fruit in a long and persistent finish, excellent with red meats and mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
The vineyards grow in Caldaro, on steep south-facing slopes between 250 and 350 metres. The Mediterranean climate ensures regular ripening, preserving the intensity of the fruit. The calcareous clay gravel soils provide drainage and retain warmth. This terroir defines the wine's personality, favouring a solid structure combined with elegant sensations of dark fruits.
How it is produced
Production involves fermentation on the skins with two weeks' maceration for excellent phenolic extraction. After malolactic fermentation, the wine matures in barriques and large wooden casks for between twelve and sixteen months, essential for integrating the tannic structure. A light filtration precedes bottling, delivering a full-bodied and intact sip, with a powerful and structured entry.
