Description
What kind of wine it is
Lumine Ca’ d’Gal is a sparkling white wine with Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin that best expresses the typical character of Piedmontese Moscato d’Asti. Made from Moscato Bianco grapes and fermented in stainless steel tanks, it reveals a clear aromatic profile of acacia, sage, rosemary and moss, enhanced by a lively and fine perlage. On the palate, the natural sweetness is balanced by pronounced freshness, finishing with notes of green apple, peach and apricot, making it ideal to pair with hazelnut desserts, tarts and blue cheeses.
Where it comes from
This wine originates from Santo Stefano Belbo, specifically in the hamlet of Valdivilla. The vineyards, located at around four hundred metres above sea level with a northern exposure, are between twenty and forty-five years old. The vines are rooted in white marl and blue clay, soils that give the wine a distinct aromatic character. The local microclimate, characterised by harsh winters and dry summers but with high humidity, encourages the development of great taste balance and vibrant natural freshness.
How it is produced
Production begins with a manual harvest aimed at selecting the bunches with the best acidity. After gentle pressing, the must ferments in stainless steel tanks using the Martinotti-Charmat method at a controlled temperature for about fifty days. The wine is then filtered and bottled isobarically. This meticulous process preserves the aromatic integrity, offering a glass with vibrant fragrance and an expression of the Moscato Bianco grape that remains unchanged over time.
History and Curiosities
Founded in 1989 in Valdivilla, in the heart of Santo Stefano Belbo, Ca’ d’Gal fully embodies the vocation of the Piedmontese region. Under the guidance of oenologist Alessandro Boido, the winery enhances historic crus such as Vigna Vecchia and Brichet to create the esteemed Moscato d’Asti Lumine. The vineyards, aged between 20 and 45 years, sink their roots into white marl and blue clay of marine origin. This extraordinary terroir gives the grapes a vibrant aromatic identity, ensuring an authentic, artisanal expression that remains true to tradition.

The marriage of tradition and new experiences comes from the stories and memories of my father, specifically a dinner with some friends, the "seigiornisti" by Giacomo Bologna.
During that evening, as always relaxed and friendly, they told their stories, retracing their memories and different harvests. It was at that moment as I listened to them, I suddenly found myself thinking that those memories could become reality again. It was that night that I decided exactly which vineyards could fulfill my dream: the vineyard of Mr. Pierino Valdivilla and Brichet would become the "Vigna Vecchia" from Ca ‘D’ Gal .
From that long ago moment in 1990, the road has been long, intense and full of trials and research, testimonials and confirmations but today, tasting our wines, visiting the winery or by sitting with us at the table in our agritourismo, you will find all these experiences and the understand of our history .
