Description
What kind of wine it is
Maurizio Zanella is a red wine of great depth created by Ca’ del Bosco, born from a meticulous blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Produced in the Sebino area, this wine displays an opulent and substantial character, supported by a structured texture and tannins that promise extraordinary evolution over time. On the nose, it reveals intense aromas of black cherry, raspberry jam, vanilla and cloves. The palate faithfully reflects the olfactory profile, finishing with a long persistence, making it ideal to accompany red meats, game and mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the finest vineyards of Franciacorta, located in the municipalities of Erbusco, Cazzago San Martino and Passirano. To enhance the characteristics of the area, the bunches of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc are selected according to the expressiveness of each individual vineyard. Ca’ del Bosco meticulously tends these plots to achieve perfect fruit ripeness. This agronomic attention ensures impeccable raw material, laying the foundation for a wine with marked aromatic intensity and tannic precision.
How it is produced
The manual harvest is followed by the immediate cooling of the bunches. After destemming, the berries are transferred into vats exclusively by gravity. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature with punch-downs to ensure balanced extraction. The wine is then racked into small oak barrels, where it undergoes malolactic fermentation. The lots, vinified separately, are subsequently blended and continue ageing in wood for a period between 13 and 17 months. The process concludes with gravity bottling, a technique that prevents oxidative stress and preserves the integrity of the wine.
History and Curiosities
Founded in Franciacorta in 1968, Ca’ del Bosco has made this exceptional Sebino IGT a true symbol of the region, proudly signed by Maurizio Zanella. Awarded the Tre Stelle Oro Veronelli, this red wine is created from a blend of grapes grown in the estate’s finest vineyards and vinified in separate batches. The meticulous care continues with innovative gravity bottling, essential for preventing oxidative shock and limiting the addition of sulphites. A masterpiece destined for a splendid and long evolution.

| Wine making | Maurizio Zanella is produced by vinifying separately the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes from the finest vineyards of Ca’ del Bosco. The grapes, hand-picked in small crates, are promptly sorted and cooled; the bunches are selected, destemmed and the berries fall into the vat by gravity, avoiding pumping. Maceration and fermentation take place at controlled temperatures with daily punching down and pumping over for a gentle extraction of colour and tannins; the wine is then racked hot into small oak barrels (60% new) after racking off the lees, malolactic fermentation, racking and blending of the batches, maturation in wood for about 13–17 months and bottling by gravity using systems that prevent oxidative shock and further additions of sulphites. |
| Aging | After racking, the wine is transferred hot into small oak barrels (60% new) made from selected wood seasoned for at least 3 years; after malolactic fermentation, it is racked and blended, then continues to mature in wood for about 13–17 months, and is then bottled by gravity. |
