Description
What kind of wine it is
Rosa dei Frati by Ca dei Frati is a still rosé that captures the essence of Lake Garda. This blend of grapes—Groppello, Marzemino, Sangiovese and Barbera—faithfully interprets the Riviera del Garda Classico. The salmon pink glass anticipates a floral bouquet with hints of hawthorn, green apple, white almond and wild cherry. On the palate, it offers a savoury and smooth sip, with pronounced minerality and clear fruit notes of strawberry and raspberry. It is the ideal companion for Mediterranean starters, delicate spring risottos and tempting fish dishes.
Where it comes from
The grapes grow in selected plots between Sirmione, in the historic area of La Tür, and Desenzano del Garda. The rows are trained using the Guyot system at a moderate altitude. The wine’s vibrant character comes from the limestone-based soils, interspersed with valuable clay, silt and sand components. This natural geological richness encourages the development of a fresh and savoury sip, capable of expressing the most authentic nuances of the Garda territory. Ca dei Frati vinifies the fruit from each individual vineyard separately to maximise the clarity of the terroir.
How it is produced
Production involves a rigorous manual harvest, followed by a brief maceration and immediate pressing, essential for extracting the delicate chiaretto colour. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, deliberately avoiding malolactic fermentation to preserve the lively acidity and aromatic precision. The wine is aged on fine lees for six months in steel, before a final rest in the bottle. This technique results in a light texture and a subtle creamy note that accompanies an always harmonious finish.
History and Curiosities
Produced by the Cà dei Frati winery, active in Lugana di Sirmione since 1782, this captivating Chiaretto embodies the essence of the region. The company vinifies each vineyard separately to enhance its clear expression. Agricultural dedication follows the natural rhythm of the vine, from the poetic “weeping of the vine” in March to the autumnal rest. Preserving the ancient vocation of the Benaco shores, a delicate rosé wine comes to life, able to tell the story of Lake Garda by offering the palate a lively freshness and excellent longevity.

It was in 1939 when Felice Dal Cero, son of Domenico, already a winemaker in Montecchia Crosara in Verona, moved in that house, Lugana of Sirmione, sensing immediately the wine-growing area.
After 30 years of work in the vineyard and winery in 1969, his son Peter participated in the creation of Doc started to bottle its first Lugana Casa dei Frati label.
Today, with his wife Santa Rosa cultural heritage has been passed on to children Igino, Gian Franco and Anna Maria who run the company with the same passion and determination.
Mutual respect, the union of the family, defined roles and the link to their territory on the shores of Lake Garda, represent the true strength of the Dal Cero family
