Description
What kind of wine it is
The Amarone della Valpolicella from Ca dei Frati is a still red wine with Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin of extraordinary depth, produced in Veneto. Created from a careful blend of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Croatina and subjected to traditional drying, it offers a velvety texture and a vigorous, enveloping presence on the palate. The bouquet is layered, with clear notes of black cherry, dried plum and delicate woody nuances. The finish reveals elegant balsamic hints of star anise and wild mint, for a complex tasting experience ideal paired with braised meats and mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
This red originates in the Veneto region of Amarone della Valpolicella. The vineyards take root in soils composed of limestone, clay, gravel and white marl, crucial elements for giving the wine gustatory solidity and remarkable ageing potential. Cultivated using simple Guyot training with limited yields, the vines produce bunches of great concentration. The Ca dei Frati winery interprets the Veronese landscape with agronomic rigour, achieving a powerful structure destined for long and noble ageing.
How it is produced
The process begins with the drying of the grapes for four months, a fundamental technique for concentrating sugars and aromas. After prolonged maceration and fermentation in steel, the wine matures for twenty-four months in barrels, integrating fine sweet spices. This is followed by a year in steel and a decisive ageing in bottle for a further twenty-four months. The glass thus reveals remarkable persistence, dominated by notes of black fruit, Arabica coffee and gentle tobacco.

It was in 1939 when Felice Dal Cero, son of Domenico, already a winemaker in Montecchia Crosara in Verona, moved in that house, Lugana of Sirmione, sensing immediately the wine-growing area.
After 30 years of work in the vineyard and winery in 1969, his son Peter participated in the creation of Doc started to bottle its first Lugana Casa dei Frati label.
Today, with his wife Santa Rosa cultural heritage has been passed on to children Igino, Gian Franco and Anna Maria who run the company with the same passion and determination.
Mutual respect, the union of the family, defined roles and the link to their territory on the shores of Lake Garda, represent the true strength of the Dal Cero family
