Description

What kind of wine it is

Bodega Garzon Tannat Reserva is a still red wine that precisely interprets the character of Tannat, the signature grape variety of Uruguay. Its aromatic profile offers fresh hints of black fruits, enriched by notes of violet and graphite that precede spicy nuances of tobacco. On the palate, it displays a bold personality with a juicy entry dominated by black plum and rhubarb. The structure is supported by ripe, velvety tannins, balanced by a pronounced savouriness. The sip evolves to reveal nuances of liquorice and dark chocolate, finishing with a long and vibrant finish.

Where it comes from

This red originates from Garzón, in the department of Maldonado, a region characterised by its close proximity to the ocean. The vineyards stretch across rolling hillsides caressed by constant coastal breezes, benefiting from a microclimate ideal for optimal grape ripening. The presence of well-drained granite soils imparts a marked mineral character to the wine. The balance between soil and climate enhances the aromatic purity of the fruit, ensuring great freshness and a remarkable ageing potential.

How it is produced

Bodega Garzon adopts sustainable practices, managing vinification through a gentle gravity-flow system to minimise mechanical intervention. Fermentation takes place in concrete vats, a choice that preserves the varietal fragrance and structural stability. Ageing continues for six to twelve months on the lees in untoasted French oak barrels, limiting the impact of wood to keep the fruit at the forefront. Ideal for those following a vegan diet, it pairs excellently with grilled red meats and mature cheeses.

History and Curiosities

The Tannat Reserva from Bodega Garzón encapsulates the most authentic soul of Uruguay, originating from outstanding granite soils caressed by the constant ocean breezes of Maldonado. Overseen by oenologist Germán Bruzzone, this exceptional organic and sustainable wine enhances the purity of the fruit through delicate gravity-flow vinification. Maturation in untoasted French oak barrels accentuates its innate elegance. Acclaimed by international critics, it offers an intense tasting experience and promises magnificent evolution in the cellar for over a decade.
