Coming directly from British Guiana, in Demerara County, Demerara Porto Finished 12 Years is one of four rums in the Big Mama series. Guyana is home to various distillation and aging systems, and Demerara is the region where the eponymous rums are produced, with unique characteristics and mature aromas and flavors. Big Mama Demerara Porto Finished 12 Years is a rum that has recently arrived in Europe and stands out for its smooth taste and excellent structure. It is aged with the precious help of a markedly tropical climate, while the finishing is completed in Europe, in order to complete its uncommon characteristics. Big Mama Demerara Porto Finished 12 Years develops aromas of red fruits, then gives way to finely smoky notes. Given its distinctive empyreumatic notes, this rum seems to recall some of the robust whiskies typical of the Scottish island of Islay.
