Description
What kind of wine is it
Belvento Toscana Viognier by Petra is a still white wine with Indicazione Geografica Tipica status that captures the essence of the Maremma. It showcases the qualities of the Viognier grape in its pure form, revealing a brilliant straw yellow colour in the glass. On the palate, it is smooth and vibrant, supported by a pronounced savouriness and a fresh acidity that leads the sip towards a long and elegant finish. Vinified in stainless steel and matured in the bottle, it has a structure that makes it ideal for pairing with grilled fish, shellfish, and soft cheeses.
Where does it come from
This white wine originates from the Tuscany region, an area characterised by a Mediterranean climate that ensures optimal ripening of the grapes. The vines grow on soils with a typical clay-sandy texture, enriched with a limestone component. These soils encourage the development of grapes with notable crispness. The interaction between the constant coastal breeze and the soil imparts a pleasant minerality to the wine, defining its identity with precision.
How is it produced
The process begins with careful hand harvesting of the grapes, which are meticulously selected upon arrival at the winery. After gentle pressing, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks for four months, a deliberate choice to preserve the integrity of the fruit. The process is completed with at least three months of bottle ageing. This method results in a clear aromatic profile, where delicate hints of lavender and elderflower precede rich aromas of tropical fruit, honeydew, and ripe apricot.
