Description
What kind of wine it is
Cambrugiano by Belisario is a substantial white wine from the Marche region, made from Verdicchio grapes and belonging to the renowned Verdicchio di Matelica Riserva area. It stands out for its structured style, characterised by a dense tartaric texture perfectly balanced by pleasant glyceric softness. The bouquet reveals elegant aromas of fresh almond, ripe peach and chamomile, interwoven with hints of aromatic herbs. On the palate, a vibrant acidity emerges, guiding the sip towards a long distinctly mineral finish, enriched by delicate spicy nuances and an intriguing smoky undertone.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in the Upper Esina Valley, in the picturesque hilly area of Matelica. The south-facing vineyards benefit from a significant continental temperature range tempered by Mediterranean sunshine: a climatic balance that ensures freshness and ideal aromatic definition. The vines sink their roots into loosely composed soils, an optimal condition that imparts the wine with its typical and distinctly savoury profile. Produced by Belisario, this wine represents one of the most authoritative and representative historic interpretations of the Marche wine scene.
How it is produced
The production of Cambrugiano begins with the manual harvesting of Verdicchio grapes, carefully selected according to their ripeness. In the winery, the bunches undergo partial cryomaceration at low temperature to intensify structure and aromatic complexity. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks to preserve the purity of the fruit. Subsequently, the wine matures on fine lees, ageing both in steel and in toasted oak barrels for at least a year. A lengthy final rest completes the process, defining the elegance and harmony of the wine.
History and Curiosities
Produced since 1988 by the historic Belisario Cellars, Cambrugiano represents a true milestone in Marche winemaking, being the first Verdicchio Riserva ever created.
