Description
What kind of wine it is
This still red wine from Piedmont is made from Nebbiolo grapes. In the glass, it reveals a garnet red colour, enhanced by orange reflections. On the nose, it expresses an ethereal and intense profile, introducing a sip that is austere and velvety, capable of ensuring remarkable longevity. Thanks to its structure, this expression pairs harmoniously with meat dishes, game, and mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
The cultivation takes place in La Morra, in the Langhe, with vineyards situated between 400 and 900 metres above sea level. The grapes come from four historic plots: Cannubi, Ruè, San Lorenzo, and Rocche dell’Annunziata, skilfully blended during vinification. The Bartolo Mascarello winery, founded in 1918, enhances the characteristics of the Piedmontese terroir by following an agricultural process that respects the vocation of this renowned hilly region.
How it is produced
The production process involves a fermentation with a long maceration of almost two months, which encourages a slow polyphenolic extraction. Subsequently, the wine matures for three years in large oak or chestnut barrels, strictly excluding the use of barriques to enhance the varietal notes of the grape. At the end of the period in wood, a carefully measured refinement in the bottle completes the production cycle before the final rest.
History and Curiosities
Founded in 1918 in La Morra, the Bartolo Mascarello winery celebrates the tradition of the Langhe with this majestic Barolo Magnum 2020. In this prestigious 1.5-litre format, ideal for ensuring extraordinary longevity, this monumental red is made from pure Nebbiolo grapes. After a long maceration of almost two months, the wine matures for three years in large oak or chestnut barrels, strictly avoiding the use of barriques. The result is a masterpiece with a robust and velvety sip, boasting international accolades with scores up to 97/100.

In the 60s he took the reins of his son Bartolo, who with passion, professionalism and personality made a decisive turning point in production, remaining far from the French fashions. The historic and legendary cellar is now managed by the daughter of Bartolo, Maria Teresa Mascarello.
The company that represents Langarola tradition par excellence is located in the center of Barolo, where the cru Cannubi, Ruè and San Lorenzo, together with the Rocche dell'Annunziata in the municipality of La Morra, are cultivated in a natural way, vinified with long macerations and wise aging in large oak barrels and then bottled with a single label without indulging in the production of separate labels for each vineyard.
