Description
What kind of wine it is
The Chianti Classico Riserva by Banfi is a red wine from Tuscany with Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin, elegant and well-structured. This organic blend combines Sangiovese with hints of Cabernet Sauvignon and Canaiolo Nero, promising excellent ageing potential. In the glass, it displays an intense ruby red colour with mauve reflections, introducing a complex bouquet dominated by notes of plum and blackberry. The aromatic profile is enriched with spicy hints of vanilla, liquorice, cocoa and leather, accompanied by balsamic nuances. Following maturation in oak barrels, the palate reveals pronounced roundness, balanced by pleasant acidity and soft, well-balanced tannins, with a long and persistent finish.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in Tuscany, in the heart of the Chianti Classico area, between the provinces of Florence and Siena. Produced by Banfi through the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices, it represents a faithful expression of its territory of origin. The vines grow in well-structured soils, rich in calcium and clay, which favour aromatic concentration and the structure of the grape clusters. In this specific pedoclimatic environment, Sangiovese achieves an ideal balance between freshness and body, harmoniously complemented by the other varieties. The interaction with calcareous soils gives the sip a decisive personality and a vigorous territorial character.
How it is produced
After the harvest, which usually takes place between the last week of August and the first week of September, vinification involves fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature, followed by a medium-length maceration for optimal extraction of colour and phenolic components. The wine then matures for two years in Slavonian oak barrels, a fundamental stage for the integration of spicy notes, and rests in the bottle for at least six months. This ageing process stabilises its complex texture, giving it further smoothness. It is recommended to decant it for about an hour before serving to fully enhance its sensory profile. Excellent paired with roast meat dishes, tortelli with Tuscan ragù, beef peposo and mature cheeses.
