Description
What kind of wine it is
SP68 Bianco is an organic white wine produced by Arianna Occhipinti that authentically expresses the character of the typical geographical indication Terre Siciliane. This blend combines the Moscato d’Alessandria and Albanello varieties, offering a dry, fresh and balanced style. The aromatic profile opens with fragrant notes of orange blossom, citron and peach, enriched by delicate hints of candied citrus, while on the palate it is clean and consistent, delivering a vibrant mineral finish. The skin maceration defines its profound gustatory identity.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in south-eastern Sicily, in the territory of Vittoria, at the foot of the Iblei Mountains. The vines grow at an altitude of 280 metres on calcareous soils, composed of sub-Apennine sands of medium texture. This particular geological matrix gives the sip a clear sensation of cleanliness and precision. The name pays homage to the provincial road SP68, the historic agricultural route of the area that testifies to the bond between man, the land and an approach focused on organic and biodynamic viticulture.
How it is produced
The harvest takes place between late September and early October. In the winery, fermentation with indigenous yeasts is combined with fifteen days of skin contact, enriching the aromatic texture of the blend. To preserve its essence intact, the wine undergoes no filtration. Aged in cement vats for six months, followed by a month in bottle, it ensures a harmonious structure. Every stage reflects an artisanal approach free from chemical intervention.
History and Curiosities
This wine takes its name from the provincial road SP68, in homage to the millennia-old journey of farmers towards the countryside of Vittoria. It tells the story of an agricultural journey at the foot of the Iblei Mountains: the same route that three thousand years ago winemakers travelled with amphorae, and later with barrels, carrying the fruits of their labour. Even today, under the clear sky, this road celebrates the deep bond between farmers, the scent of the earth, and tradition.

In the first hectare of land next to my palmento, in Fossa di Lupo District, others followed. The firm grew into the Bombolieri, Pettineo and Bastonaca Districts, Yet, everything is still the same as in the first year. Bombolieri is also located on the County Road 68. The vineyard here enlarges and it stoops onto the limestone base of the area, the vineyards are twenty years old if not more, and the court on which the wineries raise themselves is able to trap all the strength of the Ibleian sun. Nowhere else I can feel to have been walking on a coherent road. Never as in Bombolieri I can feel that I'm carrying with me past and future at the same time. It was the oldest wine route ever documented. That road was used by generations of farmers to bring their own wine to the coast. Read more
