Description
What kind of wine it is
Ventaglio di Argentiera is a refined still red wine from Tuscany, made from Cabernet Franc grapes. On the nose, it opens with a complex aromatic profile, where notes of blackberry and raspberry blend with hints of roasting, coastal scrub, cloves and mentholated tobacco. On the palate, it reveals a dense and sinuous tannin, capable of balancing the freshness of the fruit and providing a long mineral persistence. It is advisable to let it decant for an hour and serve it at a temperature between eighteen and twenty degrees to elegantly accompany dishes of game and mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
The vineyards are located in Tuscany, in the heart of Bolgheri at Castagneto Carducci, in a privileged coastal position. Situated one hundred and twenty metres above sea level, the rows benefit from excellent brightness and the influence of constant sea breezes. The proximity to the sea ensures optimal ripening and gives the wine a distinct mineral character, which harmoniously matches its natural savouriness. The identity of this wine is deeply linked to Tuscany, reflecting the uniqueness of a microclimate capable of delivering expressions of great character.
How it is produced
Production begins with manual harvesting followed by a rigorous selection of the bunches. Vinification takes place by gravity in small truncated-cone vats, where fermentation begins at a controlled temperature. Maceration lasts about twenty-five days, during which manual punch-downs and pump-overs ensure precise and delicate extraction. After malolactic fermentation, the wine matures in French and Austrian oak barrels to consolidate structure and elegance. A final period of rest allows the tannic texture to be smoothed before release to the market.
History and Curiosities
A symbol of the new era led by Stanislaus Turnauer, the Ventaglio is a true one-of-a-kind in the Bolgheri landscape. The result of the estate's first single vineyard, established in 2015, this majestic pure Cabernet Franc indissolubly links the vocation of the land to the glass. Produced exclusively in exceptional vintages and in extremely limited quantities, this iconic label expresses the most complex soul of the southern Bolgheri area. A rare creation with a long mineral persistence, reserved for those who seek absolute excellence.

The name Argentiera derives from ancient silver mines, whose traces are preserved by the history ’s pen since the Etruscans. The Etruscan civilisation developed the peninsula’s first metallurgy, and their far-trading ships brought the art of metalworking to the remote corners of the flourishing archaic Greek settlements.
The estate extends over 153 hectares and embraces a one-of-a-kind biodiversity, a fundamentally important biological mosaic that allows the vineyards to flourish to their optimum extent, protected from insects, harmful animals, and climate-change stress. Read more
