Description

What kind of wine it is

Richebourg Grand Cru by Anne Gros is a still red wine made from Pinot Noir grapes. Its violet hue introduces a profile that balances power and elegance. The bouquet blends notes of peony, rose and violet with hints of raspberry and blackcurrant, enriched by liquorice and vanilla. Exotic nuances of leather and moss also emerge, along with hints of caramel and chocolate. On the palate, it displays a marked minerality, supported by velvety tannins that define its silky structure.

Where it comes from

This wine originates from Vosne-Romanée, France, in the heart of the prestigious Richebourg. Its belonging to the Burgundy region shapes the wine’s identity, ensuring an expression of great concentration and gustatory finesse. The characteristics of the soil translate into a deep and multifaceted tasting experience. With ageing, the profile evolves towards earthy nuances, evoking scents of humus and damp undergrowth that enrich the aromatic profile.

How it is produced

Maturation takes place in oak barrels, using a proportion of new wood that consolidates the structure and amplifies the spicy notes. To fully appreciate its aromatic spectrum, a one-hour decanting is recommended. At the table, it pairs harmoniously with red meats and game with porcini mushrooms, as well as delicate cheeses such as Comté. To avoid overpowering the wine’s complex nature, it is best served with simple dishes, avoiding excessively heavy meals.

History and Curiosities

Situated 250 km south of Paris, Burgundy spreads out over 31,752 km2... The relief is relatively gentle, consisting of a collection of plains to the east, a more undulating region to the centre with an altitude of 400 to 900 metres in Morvan and finally a zone to the east which generally does not measure over 300 metres in altitude.

The geographical diversity of Burgundy results in a diversity of climates and the existence of microclimates. The annual hours of sun are approximately 2,000 and the average temperature is 11.5 °C.

Anne Gros, the only daughter of François Gros, has established a solid character and reputation in the wine world after taking over her father's domaine in 1988.

In 1984 she had to stop studying Arts to study vines'culture and oenology in Beaune and Dijon. Now her passion for vine and wine as well as her talent, sensitivity and professionalism posit her as a winemaker amateurs can rely on.

Anne Gros and Jean Paul Tollot, two winegrowers in Burgundy for over 20 years, have combined their expertise to serve the fine terroirs in Cazelles, in the Minervois.

A building was created to grow, receive, make and care for these fine terroir wines. It has been designed with great attention to detail, respecting the energies, the wines and the people...
