Description

What kind of wine it is

The Échezeaux Grand Cru Cuvée Les Loachausses from Domaine Anne Gros is a refined red wine from Burgundy, made from Pinot Noir grapes. It stands out for its well-balanced medium body and fine-grained tannins, which provide a pleasant smoothness on the palate. The aromatic profile reveals clear notes of cherry and plum, enriched by delicate spicy nuances and subtle hints of liquorice. Its precise structure makes this red an ideal accompaniment for robust first courses, game, lamb dishes and mature cheeses, ensuring a high-class tasting experience.

Where it comes from

This wine originates in Burgundy, in the area of Vosne-Romanée. The expression of the prestigious Échezeaux Grand Cru appellation is deeply linked to the specific Les Loachausses plot. The vines take root in limestone soils, characterised by a rich presence of stones and fossil materials. This complex geological composition shapes the character of the wine, imparting a dry gustatory tension and measured tannic support. The terroir delivers a concentrated and composed glass, capable of maintaining strict harmony in every sip.

How it is produced

The vinification process begins with a rigorous manual harvest. Fermentation is carried out entirely by indigenous yeasts in concrete vats, a choice aimed at preserving the utmost aromatic purity of the fruit. During maceration, colour and structural matter are carefully extracted. Ageing takes place in new barrels for around sixteen months, a crucial phase that consolidates the depth of flavour and defines the spicy nuances. The result is a wine with a consistent and technical profile, widely recognised and acclaimed by international critics.

History and Curiosities

The 2024 vintage of Échezeaux Grand Cru Cuvée Les Loachausses by Anne Gros embodies the most authentic spirit of Vosne-Romanée. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in cement vats enhances its expressive purity, while sixteen months of ageing in new barriques shapes its elegant structure with the finest tannins. From this winery
Situated 250 km south of Paris, Burgundy spreads out over 31,752 km2... The relief is relatively gentle, consisting of a collection of plains to the east, a more undulating region to the centre with an altitude of 400 to 900 metres in Morvan and finally a zone to the east which generally does not measure over 300 metres in altitude.

The geographical diversity of Burgundy results in a diversity of climates and the existence of microclimates. The annual hours of sun are approximately 2,000 and the average temperature is 11.5 °C.

Anne Gros, the only daughter of François Gros, has established a solid character and reputation in the wine world after taking over her father's domaine in 1988.

In 1984 she had to stop studying Arts to study vines'culture and oenology in Beaune and Dijon. Now her passion for vine and wine as well as her talent, sensitivity and professionalism posit her as a winemaker amateurs can rely on.

Anne Gros and Jean Paul Tollot, two winegrowers in Burgundy for over 20 years, have combined their expertise to serve the fine terroirs in Cazelles, in the Minervois.

A building was created to grow, receive, make and care for these fine terroir wines. It has been designed with great attention to detail, respecting the energies, the wines and the people...
