Description

What kind of wine it is

The Chambolle Musigny Cuvée La Combe d’Orveau by Anne Gros is a still red wine that faithfully represents the elegance of Burgundy. Made from Pinot Noir grapes, it reveals itself with a ruby red colour and releases intense aromas of red fruits. On the palate, it stands out for its silky and persistent texture, offering a precise and well-structured sip. To allow the aromatic profile to express itself at its best, it is recommended to decant for about an hour and serve at a temperature between 14 and 16 °C.

Where it comes from

The wine originates in France, in the heart of Burgundy, and fully reflects the identity of Chambolle-Musigny. This label is the result of the expertise of the Anne Gros winery, run by the producer since 1988 following solid oenological training in Beaune and Dijon. The deep connection with the Chambolle-Musigny area gives this red an authentic character and excellent ageing potential, estimated between ten and fifteen years.

How it is produced

The production process is aimed at preserving the purity of the grape variety, ensuring a highly precise organoleptic profile, supported by the 91/100 rating awarded by Vinous. Thanks to its balanced structure, it is the ideal pairing for red meat dishes and flavourful game. This wine also pairs harmoniously with pork dishes and a selection of cheeses, supporting the palate with refined drinking and a long-lasting finish.

History and Curiosities

In 1988, Anne Gros took over the family estate in Burgundy, combining passion with a solid background in oenology. From this dedication was born the Cuvée La Combe d’Orveau, a pure Pinot Noir with a silky texture that enhances the AOC Chambolle-Musigny appellation. The 2023 vintage perfectly embodies the sensitivity of the French producer, offering an elegant and persistent experience on the palate, awarded an impressive 91/100 by Vinous. An absolutely prestigious red that consolidates the domaine’s historic reputation on the international wine scene.

Situated 250 km south of Paris, Burgundy spreads out over 31,752 km2... The relief is relatively gentle, consisting of a collection of plains to the east, a more undulating region to the centre with an altitude of 400 to 900 metres in Morvan and finally a zone to the east which generally does not measure over 300 metres in altitude.

The geographical diversity of Burgundy results in a diversity of climates and the existence of microclimates. The annual hours of sun are approximately 2,000 and the average temperature is 11.5 °C.

Anne Gros, the only daughter of François Gros, has established a solid character and reputation in the wine world after taking over her father's domaine in 1988.

In 1984 she had to stop studying Arts to study vines'culture and oenology in Beaune and Dijon. Now her passion for vine and wine as well as her talent, sensitivity and professionalism posit her as a winemaker amateurs can rely on.

Anne Gros and Jean Paul Tollot, two winegrowers in Burgundy for over 20 years, have combined their expertise to serve the fine terroirs in Cazelles, in the Minervois.

A building was created to grow, receive, make and care for these fine terroir wines. It has been designed with great attention to detail, respecting the energies, the wines and the people...
