Description
What kind of wine it is
Roero Prachiosso by Angelo Negro is a still red wine that enhances the identity of Nebbiolo grapes. The glass, with its intense ruby red colour, reveals a refined bouquet with hints of rose, strawberry, raspberry and spices. On the palate, it is warm, supported by very delicate tannins that enhance its enveloping character. The persistent finish offers elegant notes of vanilla and toast. Excellent paired with red meats and game, it also goes very well with flavourful first courses and mature cheeses. It also boasts a remarkable ageing potential, able to evolve positively for over ten years.
Where it comes from
This wine originates from the renowned Roero area, specifically from the geographical mention Prachiosso in the municipality of Monteu Roero. The vineyards, situated at an altitude of 320 metres, benefit from a southern exposure that ensures consistent and optimal ripening. The vines grow on calcareous-sandy soils, fundamental elements that impart a pronounced olfactory finesse to the wine. This unique pedoclimatic ecosystem forges a clear territorial expression, precisely defining the floral aromas and balancing the entire gustatory structure.
How it is produced
The vines, cultivated using the Guyot system, are brought to ripeness until October. Harvesting is carried out by manual picking, ensuring the total integrity of the bunches. Vinification involves an 18-day floating cap maceration, gently extracting colour and the polyphenolic structure. The process concludes with 20 months of maturation, divided between ageing in oak barrels and a final phase before release, harmoniously integrating the fruity component with spicy nuances.
History and Curiosities
Originating from the Prachiosso cru in Monteu Roero, this refined Nebbiolo expresses the elegance of the Piedmontese calcareous-sandy soils. The grapes, south-facing and meticulously hand-picked, are enhanced by a traditional maceration lasting eighteen days. The expert care of Angelo Negro continues with a noble ageing process of twenty months between oak barrels and bottle, presented in the classic Albeisa shape. This prestigious Roero DOCG promises to evolve for over ten years, offering the palate a warm and enveloping experience.
