Description
What kind of wine it is
Angelo Negro Roero Ciabot San Giorgio Riserva is a still red wine from Piedmont made from Nebbiolo grapes. As an expression of Roero Riserva, it offers an intense bouquet of peach and red fruits, enriched by refined balsamic nuances on the finish. On the palate, it is fresh and structured, supported by pronounced tannins and a pleasant softness that carries the sip deeply. It is the ideal companion to enhance the flavours of red meats, game, and savoury mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
The vines take root in Roero, at around 280 metres above sea level in the province of Cuneo. The calcareous-marl soils and the favourable south and south-east exposure ensure optimal ripening of the grapes, imparting precision to the tasting experience. Produced by the Angelo Negro winery, this wine reflects the authentic territorial vocation of Piedmont, developing a solid character that guarantees extraordinary longevity and a remarkable evolution over the years.
How it is produced
The harvest takes place in October through a selective manual picking. In the winery, a traditional submerged cap maceration is carried out for twenty days, a fundamental step to extract the typical garnet colour and a solid structural framework. The process is completed with an ageing of thirty-two months, divided between oak barrels and a final resting period in the bottle. It is recommended to decant for at least an hour before serving to fully enhance the aromatic profile.
History and Curiosities
The Roero DOCG Riserva embodies the winemaking tradition of Piedmont and the passion of the Negro Angelo family, active since 1670. The grapes from the 2021 vintage were carefully hand-picked in October, from vineyards at 280 metres on calcareous-marl soils. Under the guidance of oenologists Angelo Negro and Gianfranco Cordero, this red wine expresses the essence of 65 hectares of vineyards. Its quality is confirmed by the four Bibenda bunches and accolades from Veronelli and Vitae AIS.
