Description
What kind of wine it is
Conca Tre Pile by Poderi Aldo Conterno is a still red wine that encapsulates the essence of Piedmont, produced in Monforte d’Alba exclusively from Barbera grapes. Belonging to the prestigious Barbera d’Alba, this wine stands out for its rigorous approach aimed at enhancing expressive clarity. To the eye, it reveals an intense ruby red colour, while the bouquet is layered, with fruity notes of blackberry and cherry enriched by elegant spicy hints of vanilla and liquorice. On the palate, it is long and velvety, with a well-structured profile where a slight tannin perfectly balances the natural freshness of the sip.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the hillside of the renowned Conca Tre Pile vineyard, located in the famous Bussia Soprana area of Monforte d’Alba. This hill is home to the historic vineyards of Poderi Aldo Conterno, whose roots run deep in a terroir with a strong winemaking vocation. The vines, with an average age approaching forty-five years, grow on an excellent calcareous-clay soil, a geological matrix ideal for the development of red wines with great structure. The particular local microclimate encourages optimal yields, giving bunches with extraordinary aromatic concentration.
How it is produced
The production process begins in autumn with a meticulous manual harvest and careful selection of the bunches. In the winery, the must undergoes maceration on the skins in stainless steel tanks for about eight to ten days at a controlled temperature. Afterwards, the wine rests in steel before completing its maturation in oak barrels for twelve months, acquiring complexity and ageing potential. The cycle concludes with bottling, which involves no filtration or clarification, a technical choice aimed at preserving the sensory integrity and rich texture of the wine.
