Description

What kind of wine is it

Abate Nero Trento Dosaggio Zero is a white sparkling wine from Trentino Alto Adige, a pure expression of the Traditional Method. Made from a careful blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, it displays a straw yellow colour enlivened by a fine and persistent perlage. On the nose, aromas of white-fleshed fruit emerge, with hints of greenery and delicate citrus notes. On the palate, it is very dry, crisp and elegant, with a perfect balance between freshness and savouriness that fades into a clean finish.

Where does it come from

This sparkling wine originates in Trentino Alto Adige, within the renowned Trento denomination. The grapes are sourced from selected vineyards in the most suitable areas of the region. The Abate Nero winery, founded in 1973 by Luciano Lunelli, interprets this landscape with a craftsmanlike approach aimed at excellence. The result fully reflects the authenticity of the mountain terroir, highlighting great aromatic precision and a taut, dry and consistent flavour structure.

How is it produced

The process begins with gentle pressing of the grapes and the first fermentation in stainless steel. The secondary fermentation in the bottle follows the strict rules of the Traditional Method, with twenty-five months of ageing on the lees. The absence of added sugars defines its Dosaggio Zero character, with an extremely dry and elegant profile. This production choice gives the wine marked refinement, making it the ideal pairing for cold starters, shellfish and raw seafood, also thanks to a pleasantly citrusy finish.

History and Curiosities

Founded in 1973 from the vision of Luciano Lunelli, the Abate Nero winery embodies the artisanal excellence of Trentino. This elegant cuvée is born from a rigorous selection of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, refined according to the prestigious Metodo Classico. The complete absence of added sugars enhances the authenticity of the terroir, giving it a dry and complex character thanks to 25 months of ageing on the lees. Celebrated by the leading wine guides, this Trentodoc Dosaggio Zero offers a harmonious balance between savouriness and freshness, enriched by an extremely fine perlage.

Abate Nero, whose name evokes the figure of the French abbot considered to be the ‘father’ of Champagne, was born in the early 1970s from the commitment of a few friends, including Luciano Lunelli, all linked to the agronomic and wine sector, determined to develop more and more singular, good, prestigious ‘bubbles’.

Patience is at home here, the wine rests on the lees for frothing much longer than usual. Don't be surprised, therefore, if you find dates on the label that date back a few decades. Every stage is manual, for direct control of every single bottle: only in this way does Abate Nero achieve its charm.
