Description
What kind of wine it is
Biserno is an elegant red wine from Tuscany, the result of a refined blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. On the palate, it is full and structured, with a perfectly balanced tannic texture and a pleasant softness, finishing with a persistent, spicy aftertaste. On the nose, it reveals intense aromas of red fruits, tobacco, liquorice and incense, enhanced by skilful ageing in new French oak barrels.
Where it comes from
This wine originates from the Bibbona area, a coastal region of Tuscany that is home to the Biserno estate’s vineyards. The vines cover forty hectares at an altitude of ninety metres above sea level, with various exposures that favour the correct varietal expression. The alluvial and clay-limestone soils ensure regular ripening and the development of a well-defined tannic structure. The local climate provides the ideal context for a wine with a strong territorial character, capable of combining intensity and precision.
How it is produced
The manual harvest involves a rigorous selection of bunches on a vibrating belt. After destemming and pressing, fermentation takes place in steel tanks for about three or four weeks. Malolactic fermentation occurs mainly in wood and the remainder in steel. The wine then matures for fifteen months in new French oak barrels, followed by further ageing in the bottle. This careful maturation process ensures perfect harmony between freshness and roundness.

The soils, mainly alluvial and clay-limestone, create an ideal environment for the selected varieties: Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot.
The vineyard’s varied exposures and its distance from the sea deeply influence the varietal expression: hence the decision to split production into Biserno – the company's most prestigious and representative wine – and Pino di Biserno, which conveys the territory in a more dynamic way. Read more
