Description

What kind of wine it is

Santa Barbara Metodo Classico Brut is an elegant blend that combines Chardonnay and Pinot Noir produced in the Marche region. This cuvée enhances the complexity of the Traditional Method, offering a golden yellow glass crossed by a very fine and persistent perlage. The bouquet is fragrant, characterised by clear notes of bread crust, buttery floral nuances and hints of ripe fruit. On the palate, it is fresh and vibrant, with a harmonious sip that combines pleasant minerality with a long and elegant aromatic persistence.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from the hills of the Marche, specifically between the valleys of the Misa and Nevola rivers. The vineyards are located at three hundred metres above sea level with a south-west exposure, benefiting from the moderating influence of the Adriatic Sea. This microclimate, together with the characteristics of the moraine-based soils, ensures a perfect balance between the aromatic ripeness of the fruit and the freshness on the palate. These territorial elements give the wine a clear identity, great precision and a marked mineral drive.

How it is produced

Vinification begins with fermentation in steel tanks to preserve the natural fragrance of the grapes. The prise de mousse takes place according to the Traditional Method, with a rigorous ageing on the lees that lasts for at least eighteen months. This stage is essential for developing finesse and integrating autolytic notes. The final dosage enhances the cleanliness of the Brut, ensuring a delicate mousse and impeccable balance between fullness of flavour, liveliness and a long, satisfying finish.

History and Curiosities

Founded in 1984, the Santa Barbara winery celebrates the traditions of the Marche region with this authentic Classic Method Brut Sparkling Wine. Produced on hillsides at an altitude of 300 metres, between the valleys of the Misa and Nevola rivers, the wine benefits from the constant influence of the nearby Adriatic Sea. The dedication in the vineyard and the meticulous ageing on the lees for 18 months, under the supervision of oenologist Pierluigi Lorenzetti, give this sparkling wine extraordinary elegance. This work has been rewarded with 90 points from Luca Maroni, confirming its excellence.

The name Santa Barbara pays homage to our land, our tradition and those we worship. The history of this place dates back to the 6th century when Senigallia was a Byzantine city and a Lombardic (and therefore "barbarian") outpost was
set up in a nearby village. Since then, that village took the name of Barbara which is where our winery is located today, having the privilege of being housed in an old monastery.

Our winery is located 25 km from the Adriatic Sea and is located on the hills that run between the Misa and Nevola rivers. Here a team of professionals works in the winery and vineyards every day, fuelled by passion, determination and a pinch of creativity so that our grapes maintain their beauty and express the quality of our land.
