Description
What kind of wine it is
San Felice Vermentino is a still white wine that expresses the authenticity of the Tuscan region through a balanced blend of Vermentino and Sauvignon Blanc. On the nose, it offers a lively bouquet with notes of grapefruit, citrus, spring flowers and freshly cut hay, enriched by a delicate sea breeze. On the palate, it is dry, light-bodied and supported by a crisp citrus acidity that enhances the hints of white fruit. The sip reveals a pleasant mineral texture and finishes with a long, lingering note of subtle bitter almond. It is the ideal companion for starters, raw seafood and white meats.
Where it comes from
The grapes are grown in Maremma, along the coastal hills of Tuscany. The vineyards benefit from a favourable Mediterranean climate, where the proximity to the sea tempers the temperatures and ensures optimal ripening. The soils are complex: alternating between medium-textured soils with calcareous-marl clays and abundant stones, and areas characterised by sandy-silty alluvial deposits. This precious combination gives the wine its typical freshness and a pronounced savoury character, creating a perfect balance between fruit clarity and drinking pleasure.
How it is produced
After harvesting in August and gentle pressing, the process includes a cold maceration for twenty-four hours to best extract the aromatic profile. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature, followed by about a month on the lees, which adds greater depth to the palate. Maturation occurs mainly in steel, while a small portion rests for a few months in second or third passage French oak barrels. This careful vinification results in a wine with a bright straw-yellow colour and a clean aromatic profile, able to fully enhance the varietal characteristics of the grapes.

Our winemaker, Leonardo Bellaccini, has pioneered many unique practices. Importantly he sees distinctive characteristics in each of San Felice’s undulating slopes and he treats each vine within the vineyard individually. Having identified five macro-areas Leonardo and his team has planted the grape varieties which thrive in the specific geography and soil. Read more
