Description

Organic still red wine from Sicily, 13% ABV, produced by Planeta. 100% Nero d'Avola. 0.75 L bottle, 2022 vintage. A Nero d'Avola born from the passion of the Planeta family, 17 generations of Sicilian winemaking tradition. Destemming followed by 21 days of maceration, malolactic fermentation in stainless steel, and aging for 14 months in barriques. Aromas of leather, wet grass, carob, and ferrous notes. Ripe, compact fruit and balsamic notes unfold sweetly and vigorously on the palate, accompanying a dense yet open tannin structure perfectly balanced with the structure of this wine, with its deep, baritone notes.

Planeta is one of Sicily’s benchmark wineries, with an agricultural heritage passed down through 17 generations since the 16th century. Since the creation of the winery in the 1980s, Planeta has played a central role in elevating Sicilian wine, interpreting the island’s extraordinary diversity. The vineyards span five outstanding territories—Menfi, Vittoria, Noto, Etna and Capo Milazzo—each expressed through wines deeply connected to their place of origin. Production is entirely organic and combines research, sustainability and environmental respect. It is a contemporary vision rooted in the land, placing wine and territory at the center while looking to the future with coherence and responsibility.

Xtrawine offers a selection of Planeta wines awarded by AIS, representing high‑quality vintages such as 2016 and 2017. These wines showcase the richness of Sicilian terroirs through intense, harmonious aromas with fruity and floral notes, and a defined, balanced and deeply distinctive palate.
