Description

What kind of wine it is

The Blanc de Blancs Nature by Nicola Gatta is a rigorous Traditional Method sparkling wine, capable of precisely expressing the identity of its territory. The undisputed star is Chardonnay, which imparts a dry and well-defined style. On the nose, it opens with an inviting bouquet featuring delicate floral aromas, fragrant pastry notes and hints of almond. The palate is deep and rich, supported by remarkable freshness, making this pas dosé sparkling wine particularly suitable for accompanying starters, shellfish, sushi and soft cheeses.

Where it comes from

This wine originates from the hills of Gussago in Lombardy, an area characterised by a distinct geological matrix. The limestone soil is the cornerstone of Nicola Gatta’s production philosophy, aimed at enhancing the Lombard landscape without compromise. This terrain encourages a dynamic and taut flavour profile, ensuring a pronounced minerality and excellent structure. Thanks to these features, the wine’s origin is clearly expressed, maintaining a deep aromatic continuity even when the fruity component is more subtle.

How it is produced

The production process is distinguished by an essential approach, based on spontaneous fermentation triggered by indigenous yeasts and without the addition of sulphites. The process strictly follows the principles of the Traditional Method, with a prolonged ageing on the lees lasting fifty months. This long maturation gives the wine depth and texture. Finally, disgorgement is carried out in line with the Nature zero dosage style, with no sugar added, resulting in a dry sip with great purity of flavour.

History and Curiosities

Nicola Gatta Blanc de Blancs Nature captures the essence of the limestone hills of Gussago. Born from Chardonnay grapes and spontaneous fermentations, this Traditional Method wine matures for 50 months on the lees (“50 Moons”), acquiring structure and a pronounced minerality. Awarded 93 points by Decanter, it forgoes dosage and added sulphites to ensure an authentic, profound and uncompromising tasting experience, fully celebrating the unique characteristics of the Lombardy region.

From this winery
I produce my wines artisanally on the limestone hills of Gussago, on the edge of Franciacorta. In the cellar, only spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. I use no clarifiers or stabilisers. Zero added sulphites.

"I take my choices step by step: sometimes going forward, sometimes going backwards. My method is classic, but it wants to be a hymn to diversity. The principle is to enhance a territory that is different in nature and origin, with the aim of obtaining wines that represent it without compromise." (Nicola Gatta)
