Description
What kind of wine it is
Gerry Scotti Oltrepò Pavese Metodo Classico Extra Brut by Giorgi is a sparkling wine that faithfully represents the Oltrepò Pavese. This balanced blend combines the intensity of Pinot Noir with the finesse of Chardonnay. In the glass, it displays an intense straw yellow colour with golden highlights, enriched by a fine and persistent perlage. The aromatic profile reveals an elegant and fragrant bouquet, characterised by notes of vanilla, yellow fruit and aromatic herbs. Thanks to the Metodo Classico, the tasting reveals a dry, fresh and lively profile, balanced by excellent smoothness.
Where it comes from
The vines grow on the hills of Canneto Pavese, in an area of Lombardy historically renowned for quality viticulture. The rows extend between two hundred and fifty and four hundred metres above sea level, with roots sinking into calcareous-clay soils. These pedoclimatic characteristics favour grapes with a pronounced aromatic definition. The label is produced by Giorgi, a winery active since the nineteenth century, capable of enhancing local grape varieties through careful and meticulous agronomic management.
How it is produced
The winemaking process involves gentle pressing aimed at extracting only the free-run must. The first fermentation in steel preserves the integrity and purity of the original varietals. The subsequent prise de mousse in the bottle requires a rest of at least thirty months on the lees, an essential factor for increasing the wine's complexity and structure. The final Extra Brut dosage delivers an extremely versatile sip, ideal for accompanying starters, fish dishes, shellfish and cheese boards.
History and Curiosities
The historic Giorgi Cellars celebrate Lombard excellence with this Metodo Classico sparkling wine dedicated to Gerry Scotti. Produced in Canneto Pavese from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes grown on calcareous-clay soils, this wine is aged for at least 30 months on the lees and boasts the Oltrepò Pavese DOCG certification. The glass reveals an elegant bouquet of yellow-fleshed fruit, aromatic herbs and hints of vanilla. This refined Extra Brut offers a fresh, lively and wonderfully balanced sip, ideal to serve throughout a meal or to enhance any toast.

The Giorgi family has always firmly focused on the entire production chain: from the grape to the bottle, laying the foundations from the beginning to realise their grand project of creating a significant wine company. This project became a reality as early as 1970, when the brothers, Gianfranco and Antonio, built a second winery, modern and technologically very advanced, in Canneto Pavese.
With the construction of the third winery in Camponoce, Giorgi finally achieved national consecration in the 1980s, with a sales network of 80 representatives and a presence in the best restaurants and wine shops nationwide.
Today Giorgi Vini exports to 59 countries worldwide, has more than 160 agents in Italy, and has won the most important international and national awards (Three Glasses by Gambero Rosso and Five Bunches sommelier). In addition, Giorgi proudly represents Oltrepò Pavese in Italy and the world. Read more
