Description
What kind of wine it is
Valtellina Superiore Il Pettirosso is a still red wine that faithfully reflects the character of the Lombardy region. Produced by Ar.Pe.Pe exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes, this wine reveals a clean aromatic profile, characterised by distinct red fruit notes. On the palate, it is deep and balanced, making it ideal for accompanying rich meat dishes, especially enhancing pork-based preparations and fine cheeses.
Where it comes from
This wine originates from Valtellina, a wine-growing area where all work is carried out strictly by hand, following an organic and sustainable approach. The vineyards benefit from perfect southern exposure and are situated at an altitude between four hundred and five hundred and fifty metres above sea level. These geographical conditions, combined with a yield of forty-five hectolitres per hectare, offer the most genuine expression of the land.
How it is produced
After the harvest, which takes place in mid-October, vinification is distinguished by a long seventy-one day maceration in wooden vats. The wine then undergoes a twelve-month resting period, skilfully divided between wooden barrels and steel containers, concluding with the crucial maturation in bottle. The patient management of timing follows natural rhythms, enhancing the raw material with a purely artisanal approach.
History and Curiosities
Ar.Pe.Pe., winemakers since 1860, produce a unique Nebbiolo from Valtellina through meticulous artisanal methods. Its name originates from a robin that, having perched on an old barrel, inspired the bottling at the precise moment of perfect maturation. Awarded the 3 Bicchieri Gambero Rosso, this still red wine embodies the company philosophy, devoted to patience and respecting the rhythms of nature. Every sip offers the most genuine expression of the region, releasing elegant notes of red fruits.
