Description
Type of wine
Alois Lageder's Lagrein Rosé is a rosé wine with the Alto Adige Denominazione di Origine Controllata designation that faithfully interprets the character of the native Lagrein grape variety. On the nose, it expresses clear aromas of wild strawberry and cherry, enriched by floral and mineral hints. In the mouth, it is distinguished by a juicy and medium-bodied structure, offering a dry, soft, and fresh sip. The persistent finish, characterised by an elegant bitter touch, makes it ideal for accompanying Mediterranean starters, sushi, light white meats, and smoked fish.
Provenance
The grapes come from suitable vineyards in Alto Adige, located at an altitude between 213 and 300 metres in the Bolzano and Unterland areas. The vines, which include historic stocks over forty years old, take root in deep, warm sandy alluvial soils. These natural conditions ensure regular ripening and an excellent aromatic expression of the bunches. Alois Lageder adopts rigorous certified biodynamic agriculture, working in full respect of the ecosystem to enhance the authentic identity of this regional terroir.
Production process
After the harvest, vinification begins with gentle whole-bunch pressing, essential for extracting the delicate rosé nuance from the Lagrein skins. Subsequent fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, a technique chosen to preserve the fragrance of the primary aromas intact. The cellar process concludes with four months of ageing on fine lees, which gives the wine a pleasant roundness on the palate and a perfect balance between freshness and body.
History and curiosities
Born in South Tyrol, the elegant Alois Lageder Lagrein Rosé DOC pays tribute to the authentic tradition of the “Kretzer”. This rosé comes from warm alluvial soils, from vines over forty years old cultivated according to the rigorous principles of Demeter biodynamic agriculture. Soft whole-cluster pressing and four months of ageing on the fine lees in stainless steel preserve its vibrant freshness and juicy structure, offering the palate a pure, enveloping sip that is faithful to its territory of origin.
