Despite appearances, the name Greco is derived not from the variety's motherland, Greece, but rather from the word's use throughout the Middle Ages to describe ageworthy wines high in alcohol and sugar. However, over the centuries tastes and consequently wine styles have changed considerably, and now the variety is used to boost a handful of Calabria DOCs. |

Leaf: medium, pentagonal, trilobata or quinquelobata; U open or closed, with overlapping edges; Open side or U; Flat lobby; Corner at the top of the obtuse terminal lobes; Upper side of light green color, smooth edge surface, glabra, matt; Lower, lighter, smaller page of the upper page, arachnid (including 1st and 2nd order ribs); Main ribs: green on top; Partially red on the bottom; Protruding all visible ribs; Thin flap, flat; Teeth at convex margins, regular, slightly pronounced, broad-based.
Bunch: medium, short and conical or elongated and cylindrical, simple or with little developed, compact appearance; Relative bunch length 11-14 cm (no peduncle); Visible peduncle, woody to the first branch; Medium, green pedicel, with noticeable, green color; Short brush, reddish, easy to separate from the acino.
Acino: medium, spheroidal, regular, with regular cross section (circular); Blackish skin, regularly distributed, pruinosa, medium; Persistent and not prominent navel; Juicy flesh, sweet and simple flavor; Colorless juice. |
