Description
What kind of wine it is
Zorzettig Myò Pignolo is a still red wine that precisely expresses the character of the Pignolo grape variety within the context of the Colli Orientali del Friuli. In the glass, it displays an intense morello cherry red colour, heralding a tasting experience of great depth. On the palate, it reveals a rich structure supported by sweet tannins, offering perfect balance of flavour. Its remarkable ability to evolve over time makes it a particularly long-lived red. Its characteristics harmoniously enhance meat dishes, pork-based preparations, and mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
This red originates from the hilly landscapes of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, the result of Zorzettig's commitment to sustainable viticulture. The vineyards of the Myò line are conceived as true reserves of biodiversity, rigorously protecting the local ecosystem. The vines are cultivated using the Guyot training system, maintaining a density of four thousand five hundred plants per hectare. To ensure a high aromatic concentration in the grapes, very low yields are maintained, thus enhancing the authentic identity of the terroir of origin.
How it is produced
Production requires great care and involves a long maturation in barrels, followed by a slow and prolonged ageing process. This resting period allows the development of clear red fruit aromas and delicate toasted notes. With about an hour of decanting, the aromatic profile opens up further, releasing elegant balsamic and spicy nuances. The time spent consolidates the tannic component, ensuring an excellent ageing capacity that allows the wine to evolve harmoniously for up to fifteen years.
History and Curiosities
